Ali and Jack's Mallorca wedding was everything we love about destination wedding photography; beautiful without feeling overly polished, elegant without becoming formal, and with the island itself woven right through the story of the day.
Beginning with a church ceremony at the extraordinary Iglesia de Santa Eulàlia in the heart of Palma, Ali and Jack spilled out into the old city afterwards for photographs, sunshine and a very cute newlywed gelato stop, before heading into the Mallorcan countryside for dinner, live music and a huge party at Zoëtry Mallorca.
One wedding day; two completely different sides of Mallorca.

Ali & Jack's Mallorca Destination Wedding
Ali and Jack are childhood sweethearts, and their vision for the day was one of simple elegance, in keeping with the exquisite fourteenth century luxury of Zoëtry Mallorca itself.
That vision came to life through a black tie dress code, delicate florals, a three tier ornate Lambeth cake and a classic 1938 Chevrolet Master Deluxe waiting outside.
Running through the whole day was one consistent thread: family and friends. Everything about it, down to the smallest detail, was built around making their 140 guests, travelling from as far as Ireland and Australia, feel completely enveloped in Mallorcan culture, with quality local food and drink and dancing that carried on into the early hours.
Behind it all was UK based wedding planner Laurena Robinson of Bella Che Bella, who worked with Ali and Jack for eighteen months from initial concept through to on the day coordination, bringing together 48 suppliers and 362 combined hours of delivery on the wedding day alone.

For their ceremony, Ali and Jack chose Iglesia de Santa Eulàlia in the centre of Palma.
And what a place to get married.
Set amongst the narrow streets of Palma's old town, the Gothic church has all the scale and drama you might hope for from a traditional church wedding; soaring stone architecture, beautiful light and an immediate sense of occasion as guests arrive.
Inside, a string quartet played as everyone gathered for the ceremony.
As Mallorca wedding photographers, these are the spaces we love because there is already so much atmosphere before anything has really happened. You don't need to manufacture drama when the architecture, light and anticipation are doing the job for you.
But within all that grandeur were the much smaller moments that really told the story; Ali arriving with her dad, the reactions of their families and friends, and Ali and Jack finally seeing one another at the end of the aisle.
The contrast between the scale of Santa Eulàlia and the intimacy of those interactions was beautiful.

Wedding Photography in Palma Old Town
After the ceremony came one of our favourite parts of the day.
Ali and Jack stepped out of the church and straight back into Palma.
Rather than travelling immediately to the reception venue, we had time to photograph them amongst the streets of the old city, allowing Palma itself to become part of their wedding photographs.
This is one of the things we love most about destination wedding photography.
You can take a newly married couple in beautiful wedding clothes and place them right back into the everyday life of a city. People are walking past, tables are full outside cafés, scooters are parked against old buildings and the world hasn't stopped simply because a wedding is happening.
It creates photographs that feel alive.
We're always looking for that meeting point between documentary wedding photography and something a little more editorial. We'll use the architecture, colour and light around us, and offer direction when it helps, but we don't want to remove a couple from the experience of their own day in order to make photographs.
Palma gave us everything we needed.

And then there was the gelato.
Ali and Jack stopped at Artello Gelato in Palma and the resulting photographs are some of the sweetest — quite literally — from the whole wedding.
There is something wonderfully irreverent about an immaculate bride and groom walking into an ice-cream shop immediately after getting married in a magnificent Gothic church.
It is exactly the sort of contrast we love.
No grand wedding moment; just two newlyweds eating gelato together in Palma.
Those little fragments of a destination wedding are often what give a gallery its personality. They place the couple somewhere real rather than simply somewhere beautiful and create photographs that could almost exist independently of the wedding itself.

Then it was time to head to the party.

A Zoëtry Mallorca Wedding
From the energy of Palma, Ali and Jack's wedding moved out into the Mallorcan countryside for their reception at Zoëtry Mallorca.
The change in atmosphere was immediate.
Zoëtry Mallorca is a historic estate surrounded by the warmer, quieter landscape of rural Mallorca; old stone, courtyards, gardens and Mediterranean planting creating a completely different setting from the city.
The venue describes the estate as dating back to the 14th century and includes historic buildings, vaulted interiors, gardens, a windmill and its own neo-Gothic chapel. For a wedding, that variety makes it an incredible place to photograph.
Ali and Jack had already experienced the drama and formality of their Palma church ceremony. Zoëtry allowed the rest of the wedding to become increasingly relaxed.
Drinks outside. Guests talking in the sunshine. Dinner as the light softened.
And eventually, a very big party.

Mallorca Wedding Styling and Flowers
The wedding was planned by Bella Che Bella, with florals by Joanna Walton Flowers Mallorca and lighting from Luxe Lighting Mallorca.
One of the advantages of a Zoëtry Mallorca wedding is that the venue already brings so much texture to the photographs. Historic stone, palms, gardens and the surrounding landscape mean the styling doesn't have to fight for attention.
Instead it can sit naturally within the surroundings.
Documentary and Editorial Mallorca Wedding Photography
Our approach to wedding photography sits somewhere between documentary and editorial.
We want the moment nobody knew we photographed; but we also want the beautifully composed portrait that deserves to live enormous on a wall.
Ali and Jack's Mallorca wedding gave us endless opportunities for both.
Palma provided graphic lines, warm stone, movement and the architecture of the old city. Zoëtry brought softer evening light, greenery and the textures of the estate.
But some of our favourite frames are still the ones that happened without intervention.
Family reactions. Friends together. Ali and her dad. Jack amongst his people. Guests settling around the tables and then, several hours later, behaving very differently on the dance floor.
Wedding photography is storytelling, and a complete wedding gallery should feel different at 11am than it does at 11pm.
This one certainly did.
Mallorca Wedding Photography and Film
We photographed and filmed Ali and Jack's wedding, allowing the stills and moving images to work together as one visual story.
Film brings something entirely different to destination weddings.
The sound inside a church. Music floating through a courtyard. The movement of a dress through the streets of Palma. Speeches, voices, laughter and the atmosphere of a dance floor.
Photography freezes those tiny fractions of a second; film lets you step back inside them.
Offering both Mallorca wedding photography and videography also means we can approach the day cohesively. The photographs and film belong to the same world rather than feeling like two different creative teams happened to cover the same wedding.
For Ali and Jack, with the wedding moving between Palma and the countryside and through so many different moods, that was particularly lovely to capture.
Live Music and a Mallorca Wedding Party
Dinner was catered by Delicioso Mallorca before the evening shifted firmly into party mode.
Clyde Hernandez brought live saxophone to the celebrations, followed by Groove Avenue as the evening band and Sound Alchemy Events on DJ duties.
By this point the quietness and anticipation of the morning felt a long way away.
And that is perhaps our favourite thing about a full wedding day.
It keeps changing.
The composed anticipation before the ceremony gives way to relief. Relief becomes celebration. Dinner becomes speeches. Somebody starts dancing.
And then suddenly everybody is dancing.
Those transitions are just as important to us as the beautiful portraits and details. A wedding gallery should not simply show what everything looked like.
It should remind you what it felt like to be there.

Why Mallorca is Perfect for Destination Wedding Photography
It is not difficult to see why Mallorca has become such a loved destination for weddings.
There is obviously the light and the landscape, but photographically it offers much more than a generic Mediterranean backdrop.
A Mallorca wedding can move between historic towns and churches, beaches, mountains, fincas and country estates within the same day.
Ali and Jack's wedding demonstrated that perfectly.
The Gothic architecture of Santa Eulàlia. The bustle and warmth of Palma. Gelato in the old town. Then the quiet landscape and historic architecture of Zoëtry Mallorca before the whole thing erupted into a party.
Every part of the day looked different, but it still belonged to the same story.
For us, that is destination wedding photography at its best.
