We are Fineshade Studios, a Northamptonshire-based husband and wife wedding photography team. Having grown up in this beautiful county, we’ve spent the past eight years capturing over 100 weddings here. Our name, Fineshade Studios, is inspired by the picturesque Fineshade Woods—one of our favourite places to explore with a camera and the spot where Martin (unfortunately!) broke his back mountain biking in 2016. Our daughters go to school in Oundle and this is where we have our home.

Rushton Hall
Rushton Hall is a Grade I listed building with a history that dates back to the 15th century. This magnificent country house offers a blend of Renaissance architecture and lush gardens, providing a fairy-tale setting for wedding photography. The Hall’s Great Hall, with its grand fireplace and ornate ceiling, is perfect for capturing timeless indoor shots, while the beautifully manicured grounds offer countless opportunities for romantic outdoor portraits.
Deene Park
Set in tranquil parkland with lake views and beautiful formal gardens, the house provides a timeless and breath-taking backdrop to your wedding day – the perfect mix of grandeur and relaxed country garden charm. The Walled Garden, The Lakeside and the new Dibbins Wood all offer something slightly different for your big day.
Kelmarsh Hall
Known for its stunning Georgian architecture and award-winning gardens, Kelmarsh Hall offers a blend of elegance and natural beauty. The Hall’s Great Hall, with its sweeping staircase and exquisite details, is perfect for capturing the grand entrance of the bride and groom. The gardens provide a plethora of opportunities for creative outdoor photography, with vibrant floral displays and tranquil water features. We have photographed here several times and is without doubt, one of the most beautiful venues in Northamptonshire.

Ashton Estate
A beautiful wedding venue set deep within the secluded rolling countryside and woodlands of the private Ashton Estate, near Oundle, Northamptonshire. Former home to the late Dame Miriam Rothschild, a renowned entomologist and nature conservationist, the venue is tucked away behind the Chequered Skipper in Barnwell and features a several stone cottages that are perfect for wedding guests that need places to stay. The main building features a stunning ceremony room with large windows overlooking the landscaped gardens which gives numerous opportunities for some amazing photos.
Barton Hall
A stunning 16th-century manor house in Kettering, seamlessly blends historic charm with modern elegance, making it a dream wedding venue for photography. The Grade II-listed building, once a grand private residence, has been beautifully restored, preserving its Georgian architecture while incorporating contemporary luxury. The Orangery, with its floor-to-ceiling windows, floods ceremonies with natural light, creating a soft, romantic glow—perfect for timeless wedding portraits. The surrounding landscaped gardens, featuring a offer endless opportunities for breathtaking outdoor shots. Whether capturing intimate moments under the historic stone archways or golden-hour portraits by the manicured lawns, Barton Hall provides a versatile and visually stunning backdrop for wedding photography.
Dodford Manor
Dodford Manor is one of Northamptonshire's most popular barn wedding venues, and it's easy to see why. Set within 20 acres of rolling countryside near Weedon, this Grade II listed collection of 17th-century ironstone and contemporary oak barns has a warmth and character that photographs beautifully in every season. We love the surprise reveal of the glass-walled Oak Barn for the wedding breakfast - that moment when guests see the panoramic countryside views for the first time never gets old. The West Lawn is perfect for golden hour portraits before the light fades and the evening celebrations begin. We've shot both photography and film here, and it's a venue that rewards a documentary approach - there's always something happening.
Elton Hall
Just over the Northamptonshire border into Cambridgeshire, Elton Hall is one of the most extraordinary private houses in the country - a part-Gothic, part-classical country house that has been home to the Proby family since 1660. With a maximum of five weddings a year, exclusivity is genuinely built into its DNA. The Orangery, the Billiard Room, and the Well Head Lawn are all licensed for ceremonies, and the formal gardens and parkland provide an almost cinematic backdrop. If you're drawn to venues with genuine history and no hint of the corporate, Elton Hall is worth serious consideration.
Plum Park Manor
Plum Park Manor is a beautifully restored Victorian country house on the Northamptonshire/Buckinghamshire border near Towcester. The Orangery ceremony room - floor-to-ceiling windows, soft light, garden views - is one of the loveliest spaces we've worked in. Exclusively yours for the day, with on-site accommodation for the wedding party, it has a relaxed, unhurried quality that makes for a genuinely enjoyable day to photograph and film. The gardens and parkland give you real variety for couple portraits without ever needing to wander far from your guests.
Hothorpe Hall
Set on the Leicestershire/Northamptonshire border, Hothorpe Hall sits within the expansive Hothorpe Estate and offers something genuinely different - woodland surroundings, extensive grounds, and a venue that feels removed from the everyday. The Woodlands at Hothorpe is an exclusive-use space that suits couples who want something immersive and natural rather than grand and formal. For photography and film, the woodland setting gives you light and texture that a traditional country house simply can't replicate.
The Talbot, Oundle
The Talbot is one of our favourite venues in Northamptonshire, and not just because it's on our doorstep. This 17th-century coaching inn in the heart of Oundle is steeped in history - oak beams, beautiful staircases, and guest rooms with woodwork that makes for genuinely stunning preparation shots. Danielle got ready here on our own wedding day, so we know these spaces intimately. What makes the Talbot particularly special is the contrast between its historic interior and the walled garden outside, which has an almost unexpected tropical feel - palm trees and lush planting that sits beautifully against the old stonework. It's a venue that rewards a photographer who pays attention to light and texture, and one we never tire of working in.
