'Fineshade Studios sit in the rare space between art and story-telling. The team of creatives work across film and photography to produce visual imagery that is distinctively composed, guided by an editorial eye and an emotional intelligence that feels both modern and timeless. The result is a body of work that is elegant, joyful, and unmistakably their own.'

We are Martin and Danielle, the husband and wife team behind Fineshade Studios; a wedding photography and film studio specialising in chic London hotel weddings, with a particular focus on Claridge’s in Mayfair. Working together allows us to photograph with a shared rhythm and instinct; one of us always observing the wider scene, the other attuned to the quieter, fleeting moments.

While our home base is Northamptonshire, our work regularly brings us to London, where timing, discretion, and emotional awareness matter just as much as aesthetics. These qualities are essential when photographing weddings at Claridge’s, a venue defined by elegance, heritage, and a quiet confidence. Our approach sits between editorial and documentary; fashion-aware without being trend-led, refined without feeling performative. London hotel weddings require a particular sensitivity; an understanding of space, movement, light, and energy within iconic interiors while allowing moments to unfold naturally. This is where we do our best work.

Why Claridge’s Is the Benchmark for Chic London Hotel Weddings

Claridge’s is not simply a hotel wedding venue; it is a London institution. A wedding at Claridge’s is defined by confidence rather than spectacle, elegance rather than excess. Its Art Deco heritage, refined interiors, and exceptional service create an environment where every detail feels intentional without ever feeling overstated.

From the iconic Ballroom to the softly lit suites and sweeping staircases, Claridge’s offers layers of visual interest that reward an editorial approach to wedding photography. The architecture provides structure and rhythm, while the flow of the hotel allows the day to move seamlessly from preparation through to evening celebration, creating space for moments to breathe rather than feel orchestrated.

What sets Claridge’s apart is its balance of precision and warmth. The experience feels polished yet personal, luxurious yet relaxed; qualities that translate beautifully into imagery and make the hotel such a compelling place to photograph weddings.

Luxury hotel weddings in London operate on a different rhythm. They are layered, fast-moving, and often deeply intimate despite their scale. They demand photographers who understand how to work quietly within refined spaces, how to anticipate moments rather than direct them, and how to balance fashion, architecture, and emotion without disrupting the flow of the day. Captured with a small and unintrusive Leica Q3, these images reflect the photographer's ability to move as a guest might and to reflect the pace and ambient of the day. To blend seamlessly with the ebb and flow of a busy central London wedding day.

Our experience across London hotel weddings allows us to work with confidence and calm whilst remaining acutely aware of light, composition, and atmosphere.

The Art of Photographing Chic London Hotel Weddings

Wedding photography in luxury hotel settings is not about coverage alone; it is about interpretation. At Fineshade Studios, we photograph Claridge’s weddings with restraint and intention, allowing the space to elevate the story rather than dominate it.

Lighting; Working with Claridge’s Interior Atmosphere

Claridge’s is defined by layered light; warm Art Deco interiors, soft window light within its suites, and elegant transitions from day to evening. We work intuitively with these conditions, using light and shadow to add depth and atmosphere while preserving the natural mood of the hotel.

Composition; Architecture as a Frame

Our compositions are guided by Claridge’s architectural rhythm and symmetry. Staircases, corridors, mirrors, and refined detailing provide a natural framework for images that feel considered without appearing staged. Emotion remains central; architecture simply holds it.

Detail; Luxury Without Excess

Claridge’s weddings are rich in detail; couture bridal fashion, tailored suiting, beautifully considered tablescapes, and quiet, thoughtful gestures. We photograph these elements with restraint, allowing luxury to feel effortless and personal rather than performative.

Candid Moments; Discretion and Timing

Some of the most meaningful moments at Claridge’s happen quietly; a pause before entering the Ballroom, laughter in a corridor, a shared glance away from the room. Our unobtrusive approach allows these moments to be captured honestly, without interruption.

Post-Processing; Editorial and Enduring

Our editing is clean, refined, and designed for longevity. Colour, tone, and contrast are handled with subtlety, ensuring the final imagery feels timeless and remains relevant for years to come.
