A European Summer at Kelmarsh Hall, Northamptonshire.

Jenna & Matt’s Elegant Botanical Country House Wedding at Kelmarsh Hall, Northamptonshire

Some weddings stay with you because they’re spectacular. Others stay with you because they’re perfectly, quietly beautiful. Jenna & Matt’s wedding at Kelmarsh Hall was the second kind — elegant, fresh, light-filled, and completely timeless.

From the soft morning preparations to the garden ceremony and sun-drenched orangery reception, the whole day felt like a European summer translated into the English countryside. Calm, joyful, and effortlessly refined.

I didn’t shoot this one myself, but it still makes my list of all-time favourites. Photography was the beautiful work of Martin, with our wonderful team on film. I did, however, have the pleasure of editing it — and this was one of those galleries where every frame just flows.

The brief was simple: natural, honest, and unfussy. No trend-led styling. No heavy filters. No over-designed moments. We kept the edit clean, bright, and true to life — letting the pale stone, soft greens, botanical textures and that beautiful European-style light do exactly what they’re meant to do.

Jenna and Matt have the kind of easy, unforced connection that makes everything feel relaxed. Nothing performative. Nothing staged. Just genuine warmth, laughter, and a day that felt more like a beautiful garden gathering than a formal event.

Kelmarsh Hall is the perfect backdrop for this kind of wedding. The symmetry, the gardens, the orangery, the architecture — it all brings a quiet grandeur that never feels showy. Add simple, seasonal florals, crisp linens, and thoughtful details like lemons and garden flowers, and the whole day takes on that fresh, Mediterranean-inspired, botanical elegance that feels both luxurious and completely unforced.

From Jenna’s effortlessly elegant dress to the long, light-filled tables and golden garden portraits, this day was the definition of refined, joyful simplicity.

We’re still a little bit in love with it.

Planning a Light, Elegant Botanical Wedding at a Country House? Here Are Our Top Tips:

1. Choose a venue with architectural elegance and great light

Places like Kelmarsh Hall do so much of the work for you — beautiful gardens, pale stone, symmetry, and light-filled spaces mean you can keep styling simple and refined.

2. Keep the palette fresh and natural

Soft whites, stone, gentle greens, and botanical accents (lemons, herbs, seasonal flowers) create that effortless European summer feeling without trying too hard.

3. Let light shape your timeline

Orangeries and garden venues come alive in natural light. Plan for a bright reception space and leave room for golden-hour portraits.

4. Choose florals that feel like they’ve grown there

Loose, seasonal, garden-style arrangements will always feel more luxurious than anything too structured or over-styled.

5. Choose a photographer who edits for longevity

Clean, natural colour and honest tones will still feel beautiful decades from now. Trends won’t.

6. Keep fashion timeless, not trend-led

Beautiful fabrics, elegant cuts, and one or two personal details will always age better than statement trends.

7. Prioritise atmosphere over performance

The best weddings feel like a celebration, not a production. A documentary approach lets the day unfold naturally — and that’s where the magic lives.
