We are Fineshade Studios, a Northamptonshire wedding photography team based in the heart of Oundle. Having grown up in this county, we have spent the past eight years photographing more than one hundred weddings here, each one shaped by artistry, intimacy, and storytelling.

Our work is inspired by the stillness and texture of Fineshade Woods, the place that gave our studio its name. We photograph weddings throughout Northamptonshire, and on this particular Sunday, we photographed Alex and Callum’s elegant celebration at The Talbot Inn, a local wedding that allowed us to walk to work with our cameras over our shoulders.

Why Oundle is Perfect for Wedding Photography

Oundle is a town filled with character. Medieval stonework, Georgian architecture, and narrow, atmospheric streets create a cinematic canvas for wedding photography. The Talbot Inn sits at its centre, a 16th-century coaching inn with textured beams, stone archways, and warm candlelit interiors.

It was Walk to Work Day for us, and a short stroll through the town brought us to Alex and Callum, ready to exchange vows in an intimate ceremony surrounded by their closest family and friends. The Talbot Inn offered everything we love to photograph; heritage, depth, and quiet elegance, all held within a single location.

The Wedding Day

The morning began in a calm and unhurried way. Champagne was poured across soft golden linen, and the grooms dressed slowly in matching Saint Crispin Bespoke tuxedos. The beams of the bridal suite framed the scene with a tactile stillness.

Their ceremony took place in The Talbot’s old stone room, filled with candlelight and soft florals by @eden.flowers. The atmosphere was peaceful as guests gathered close to watch Alex and Callum exchange heartfelt vows. It was a moment that felt suspended in time, the kind of moment we love to document in clean, unobtrusive black and white.

Dinner was held by candlelight. Long linen-draped tables, gentle conversations, and the warm glow of the room created the perfect backdrop for natural, editorial storytelling. The cake by @thegreenhousecakerie stood sculpturally at the centre, with monogrammed initials and delicate folds that reflected the couple’s refined aesthetic.

A Timeless Vision

Alex had a clear vision; a day that felt elegant, understated, and deeply personal. Photographing this in monochrome allowed every quiet detail to breathe; candlelight catching the edge of a glass, the sheen of polished shoes, the calm confidence between them.

Hair and makeup by @adm.makeupartist_hairstylist and @jenniferlucy_mua elevated the look without overwhelming it. Every frame had an editorial quality, balanced by a documentary feel that kept the images honest.

Later, guests walked together from The Talbot’s courtyard to The Ship Inn, a small evening procession through Oundle’s streets. Black tie and laughter moved beneath the night sky, giving us some of our favourite documentary frames of the day.
